MEET PAUL
I grew up in the stunning Pacific Northwest. My hometown, Olympia WA, served as home base for numerous adventures along the coast and in the mountains. After earning my degree in photography from The Evergreen State College in 2009, I made the leap to the opposite side of the country and landed in Burlington, Vermont. It didn't take me long to fall head over heels in love with Vermont and decide that this was where I wanted to spend my days.
I had never intended to become a wedding photographer, in fact you could say it was a total accident. I experimented with many styles of photography when I first moved to Vermont. My first official photography gig was working as a photo assistant in a commercial studio. A chance encounter with a wedding photographer at that studio resulted in me working weddings as a second photographer for two years. I was immediately hooked on the endless source of incredible subject matter that wedding photography provides.
Today I run my very own full-time photography company, Illume by Paul Reynolds. It is my absolute dream job. I live with my wife in Starksboro, Vermont where we own a lovely little home perched on a hill looking out at the mountains.
PHILOSOPHY
“Timeless” is defined as “not affected by the passage of time.” It is my belief that your wedding day should be a reflection of your personalities, and your shared love, and not a reflection of an era or current trends. Photography is there to capture still images of moments that will continue to spark emotion many years down the road.
Beautiful photography comes from unforgettable moments captured in good light, with great composition and not from post-event photoshop work. It is my belief that the value in my work comes from the couples I work with, and not from my editing skills. Years of learning, experimenting and slowly collecting the right equipment have allowed me to fine tune what Illume is to me, and what I can offer you, as my client.
My mission on your wedding day is to ensure that it is all about you. I will capture the necessary family photos, the unforgettable sunset, the tiny details that make your day uniquely yours, and the joy of those un-staged moments throughout the wedding day, however, it is my goal to make sure that you are comfortable & relaxed & able to enjoy a stress-free day. I am passionate about my work, and love sharing in a wedding day, and I look forward to learning more about your special day!
